Growsian Agro coordinates NPOP certification within a documented export supply programme. For each order, the relevant product, operator, lot, evidence and destination requirements are aligned before dispatch.
NPOP is implemented by APEDA and covers standards, accreditation of certification bodies and organic production and handling controls. Scope, operator and product must be checked for the actual supply route.

What NPOP and APEDA cover
India’s National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) is implemented by APEDA. It sets the organic production and handling standards, accredits the certification bodies that inspect and certify operators, and governs use of the India Organic logo. A grower group, farm, processor, packer, trader or exporter is certified by an APEDA-accredited certification body against the NPOP standard, and the certificate states the operator, the certified products and the authorised activities.
NPOP certification is issued to the operator for a defined scope and validity period. The scope certificate is the primary evidence that an operation is certified; on its own it does not confirm that a particular lot or shipment sits within the certified chain.
The role of TraceNet
TraceNet is APEDA’s electronic system for NPOP organic certification and export traceability. Certification bodies and operators record certification, production, processing and transaction data, which supports forward and backward traceability and the issue of transaction certificates for consignments. TraceNet records help reconcile certified stock with what is produced, processed and shipped, but they are one control among several and do not replace physical segregation or on-site inspection.
What NPOP does and does not establish
NPOP certification establishes that an operator and its stated products and activities meet the NPOP standard. It does not automatically establish eligibility for every destination market:
- NPOP certification does not by itself make a product eligible as USDA Organic. Supply to the United States requires certification by a USDA-accredited certifier and a NOP Import Certificate; the former APEDA–USDA recognition arrangement has ended.
- NPOP certification does not by itself satisfy the EU organic import route, which operates under Regulation (EU) 2018/848 with a control body and a Certificate of Inspection issued in TRACES NT.
- Other markets, including the UK, Canada and Japan, apply their own recognition, certification and documentation requirements.
Confirm the destination route before treating an NPOP certificate as sufficient for that market.
Verifying NPOP for an order
For a specific order, check that the operator named on the certificate is the entity you are contracting with, that the product and activity are inside the certified scope, that the certificate is valid for the production and shipment period, and that transaction-level evidence links the consignment to the certified chain. See how to verify a supplier’s certification and the difference between scope and transaction certificates.
